That isn't really surprising

The show, in it's peak, was bringing the state a bunch of money in tourism, jobs (film industry), and other things

Sales of Duck Commander go up = more tax money coming into the state

One industry insider estimates that the Duck Dynasty cast, which is paid $200,000 per week to appear on the popular reality show, receives government benefits of $70,000 for every episode of the A&E cable show

My wife worked in tourism in South LA. It made me sick to know what they were paying some of the Swamp People just to use them in advertising magazines and stuff. But, the tax money came from hotel occupancy tax (not out of our pocket) and the intent was to have return on investment. So their was obviously some upside. She told me people regularly asked for swamp tours with the Swamp People when visiting NOLA. I would assume it's 10 fold for the Duck Dynasty crew since I see them as much more popular.

Every clickbait article I've seen on this confuses "tax credits" with actually paying out of pocket for something

You have fallen for it. We're not taking money from our pocket and giving it to them.

"tax credits for the movie industry" in simple terms means we (Louisiana taxpayers) will pay 33% of production costs for any movie/TV show filmed in the great state of Louisiana. All the movie industry has to do is hand us the itemized bill and make the stars have lunch at a well known eatery so the people of the state think they are getting something for their investment.

The program cost Louisiana more money than it brought in.

Loren Scott PhD estimates we get about 1.75 for every 10.00 we spend.

Good for them. I am not a fan of the exploitation and misconstrued 'reality' of Louisiana that is portrayed in these types of shows but I am happy for the Robertson's for making it work for them.

I dont buy that in the least.

Every item DC sales with their name one it comes back to LA at some point. It's a huge market. Then the Robertsons spend a lot of that money on our stuff.
