Find me something else that is short, light, super slim, points well, and offers almost instant follow up shots for $400.

Cost is your issue? That has nothing to do with this. You don't need follow up shots anyway.

Well over half of my deer were killed with a marlin 30-30 lever action. Its a good meat gun if your not hunting wide open spaces. That being said, I could have used a lot of guns and had the same results. I do love that gun though.

Cost is always an issue with everything.

Follow-ups are always important. If it doesn't drop you better put another one in it quick.

And there is no rifle as nice to carry as a 336.

I'm 100% sure that mine was not more than 400 bones, but whatever. Find me a better swamp gun for any price.

Cheaper and junkier and I think they have additional safeties which you do not need.

The single shots are the only ones that carry better, and you only get one shot. Better stop him right there.
