Gorgeous snake. Not a king snake, but still a very beneficial chicken/rat snake.

Good job not killing him. Those snakes keep down the rodent population. My only concern now is why was it inside? Chasing a rat maybe...

Yeah, once I saw it, I understood why his wife freaked out. Not gonna act like I'm a hard azz, I had a shovel to pin it's head, while my neighbor had the leather gloves on the grab it. I could tell it wasn't poisonous, but I don't mess with any snake.

His wife had mentioned that they have had a recent mouse problem, so more than likely that is why it came in.

That is one seriously big rat snake. A real pretty one at that.

That one is a keeper for sure, and kudos for not killing it.

You definitely want that one around your place...bet it's a high-volume mouse eating machine!

eta: any pics of the neighbor's wife?

Neighbor had the gloves on, I had the shovel.

It was perched on a folded up poker table.

My wife was staying with a friend whose husband was off to Vegas. They call me and say there's a snake in her friends garage behind the washer, dryer. I cruise over and rangle the snake out with a garden hoe. About a 4 foot mocassin.
