Found this snake in the flower bed and after a quick shovel to the head he was tossed into the bayou as alligator food.

Sorry for the massive pictures, I'm on my iPad and can't make it smaller.

Well I have three little nephews that are always playing in the yard and I can't tell the difference between non-venomous or not. I know it's not the best idea, it's just my opinion on snakes.

You could take 2 minutes and educate yourself.

Your ignorance is actually contributing to a possibly more dangerous scenario. The "good snakes" like the one in the OP typically prevent the "bad snakes" from moving in. By killing every snake you see (which is probably only 1 out of every 30 snakes on your property), you are making yourself more susceptible to venomous snakes moving in.

Take 10 minutes and learn them. Then you can teach the kids.

you can jut tell them "Hey, if you see a snake, find a grown-up and tell them"

I'm not going to have my daughter petrified of snakes in the way that others in my family are

Come on Jose. It's not that difficult. Do yourself and your nephews a favor by researching snakes of Louisiana. Who knows, they may take a liking to them instead of fearing them.

1. Oval-shaped or round-shaped head: non-venomous, except for # 3. (see below).

2. Diamond-shaped head: venomous.

3. Red, black and yellow snake: Red on yellow, kill a fellow. Red on black, friend of Jack.

Hell of an egg eater/ rat snake. No need to kill those, but I'm not against it since it is in fact a serpent of the devil.

Congrats on being both a dumbass and a coward! I hope the one time you do run across a venomous snake, he gets you before you get him.
