I know the OB is not a big fan of fish and ski combos, but at his point in time, it may be the only compromise I can come up with. I'm not doing a party barge and a regular bass boat does not have enough seating for my family. Anyone have any experiences with a SL 190 or something similar with a 150 HP?

I went with a bay boat instead. Not disappointed.

If you want to be the laughing stock of every fruit jar and at every boat launch, then you should buy an SL Sleeter.

It's that I'm "not a fan", it's that I don't see it as a practical vessel. It seems like, since it's a dual purpose boat, that it would be lacking as a fishing boat and as a ski boat.

That's just how I see it. Hell, they might be fantastic for all I know. If that's what you want then go for it.

Why the hate on a party badge? That's a better compromise imo than a fish n ski. Many a great times can be had on a party barge. Gives the kids some room to play around and space out too.

A couple of other options would be something like the sea ark big easy.

Sea Ark

or the Lowe Sd224

Lowe sd224

or something like the Tahoe deck boats

Tahoe deck boat

I'm kinda in the same spot as you because I cant really justify a bass boat if the rest of my family cant or wont enjoy it. I've been looking at deck boats or barges that can be fished out of. I don't care what dipshit would laugh at me.

I've been looking for something lightweight so that is why I linked the two aluminum ones. I really like the Sea Ark.

Fish and ski = worst of both worlds. Only person I could see getting any use out of one is Bossier2323.

my father in law had the LOWE deck boat. It was nice but huge. I am looking for something in the 18' range and not too tall to fit in my garage.

Bay Boat

I bought one like this(sans the sissified top) when the kid was younger, the wives could layout on the front deck cushions, me and my buddy would pull the kids on the tube, it had a built in cooler for drinks and plenty of room for all of us, tubes, beach bags and all the other chit women have to bring.

If I wanted to go fishing I'd jerk them cushions off the front rod boxes and roll out.

ETA:4 adults and 3 kids when playing and fished as many as 5 adults

Buddy had a fish/ski, it really didn't fish well, especially from the back.
The one good thing about it, if its cold or raining, that windshield is awesome.

Fish and ski's are just terrible boat concepts IMO. My buddy had one when we were kids growing up together. It didnt fish worth a damn and the whole ski thing was less than average.
Honestly, buy a comfortable bay boat and you should be happier. If not good luck to ya.

I owned an SL 190 for a couple years. At the time the wife wanted a ski boat and I wanted a bass boat. Its was the early marriage compromise. I actually enjoyed the boat but mainly fished out of it so I talked her into letting me get a zx a few years later. Mine was the one year they allowed a 200 on the back and it was really fast. Good boat, not great for fishing or skiing but like I said it was a compromise. If you have kids and like to ride around on smaller waters it will work well.

I don't remember the brand buy my FIL owned a fish n ski about 7 years ago, I thought it was just fine. I mean there's a reason you don't see anyone on the Bassmasters tour in a FnS instead of a bass boat, but for anyone that fished 10 times a year like he did it was good. The back isn't the best for fishing 2 people, but I don't remember anything wrong with the front. Its a compromise after all.

I'd generally agree a bay boat would be better, but they are also heavier.

Happy to help. We had great times on it. While it might not be the ideal fishing or skiing boat it is a great compromise. And like you it fit into my first garage which is the reason I went with it. It had an incredible hole shot. Ended up keeping all my rods in the ski storage and it worked pretty well during the non skiing months.

Found an old picture of it. good times
