Sig Legion

I have been thinking about getting my first Sig pistol and have pretty much decided on the Legion. I know a couple of you on here have them so I need some feedback. I really like the compact size of the 229, but I am open to the 226. I don't plan on carrying it, but I like the size of the 229 a little more than the larger 226.
I have noticed there are two versions of the 229. One with 10 round and one with 15. Is there any difference other than the magazine capacity? Is the frame of the gun the same either way?
I know the 226 offers SAO, but I don't see where they offer that on the 229. Is that a big deal? I know a lot of people are all about the SAO, but I don't see where it's beneficial over the SA/DA.

A Sig P220 was my first "real" pistol and I've been a fan of their all metal, "classic" designs since. The P226/P229 divide is very similar to the Glock 17/Glock 19 break, although the polymer pistols are both lighter than either all metal pistol, they tend to fill similar roles: P226 and G17 are, for the most part, service pistols intended for a hip or thigh holster, or perhaps on a vest. The P229 and G19 are "concealable" (insofar as that archaic term still applies) carry guns that can fill the role of a hip holster gun or with some effort ride in an IWB or shoulder rig and not be quite so obvious.
So, if you're going to carry it AT ALL, in anything other than a duty-style holster, I would recommend the P229. My current ready gun is a P229 and it is a fine, fine weapon. I plan on getting the Bar Sto barrel and convert it to 9mm later this year because I'm getting out of the .40 S&W business.
The DA/SA system by Sig is my preferred system. I like the option of SA with a decocker. Sig classic triggers are fantastic - not quite rifle crisp, but just right for me as well. I'm also considering getting a P320 for evaluation purposes, but I generally disfavor polymer guns as a preference, except for an exclusively CCW weapon (and in that case, I tend to favor the Kahr options).

Having shot both 226 and 229 legions with DA/SA there's little difference. 226 grip is longer and narrower while the current 229 was built for a 40 caliber and is beefier all around. Depending on which grip you'd rather is a personal choice.
I like the 229 more due to it being what I consider a full size gun (fills the grip/all fingers with my glove size large hands) while maintaining shorter barrel/slide/grip. You can get 229 magazines with 15 or 17 (15s with a plus 2 basepad) - 10 rounders are for magazine restrictive states. 226 comes with 15s I believe but can easily get 18s with the same mag size. Good thing to note is the 226 mags fit (extend further out grip) in the 229s.

I've shot both and own 2 p226 so I may be somewhat biased. Plus the p229 i shot was a .40 which I'm not the biggest fan.
I prefer the p226. I think the balance on them are just about perfect as is the pointabililty. The 229 has the same pointability but I just love the 226.

I have a Sig P226 DA\SA Legion. Its one of my favorite guns. They really did a nice job on it. The trigger is fantastic and it is accurate like a laserbeam. The 229 is next on my list. I have a 226X5 Tactical that is SAO and would have no issues owning a SAO legion.

I ended up going with the 229. This is a beautiful gun. Big thanks to Chris and Tyler at Interstate Guns for helping me out. Exceptional customer service as usual.

Why replace the MK25? Like it better than the MK25? MK25 is what I think I want next

No, didn't realize that was criteria for wanting one.
Can you tell me the advantages to the legion now?

His MK25 was stolen I believe.

Thought that was the case but with the unfortunate number of people who have reported stolen guns, I wasn't sure.

The Gray's trigger and the checkering are worth the extra coin.

The only differences between a Mk25 and a standard P226 are the phosphate coating and the anchor on the side. You get an extra mag too. Not at all worth the extra cash.
The legion has X-ray sights, G10 grips, front strap checkering, better finish, SRT, more and a more defined beaver tail
Only thing I hate about the Legion is the tiny slide release. Thing sucks compared to the original

Find you a p228 German / German. Perfect conceal , balanced 9mm. Like my p220 st for side carry but its heavy chunk of ss.

As well as enhanced undercut on the trigger guard.
