Any suggestions out there regarding the shipping, hot shot, or transport of a gator tail back to Louisiana from Idaho.

Does it have a trailer?

I used Uship to ship a boat about 1200 miles from Minnesota to Louisiana a few years ago. Cost $1200.

You can post your listing and people will give you bids. Bidders have reviews/stars for feedback that you can check out.

A lot of that is fake... but I have had good experiences and one really bad one. I had $3k worth of damage to an item that was suppose to be a flatbed truck with forklift and turned out to be a guy in an unregister, wrecked F150 and a rusty trailer. He complained I didn't have a way to unload it but it clearly was a bid for a flatbed and forklift. Uship refunded my money and the shipping company that let him pick it up from their dock paid for damages within minutes of getting my email with pictures and video of the guy and vehicle they released my item to. The guy had good reviews and had it set up like it was a legit business, it was NOT, but I didn't look into the business name until I saw this rig in person.

Other items were fine, I had a car shipped, I have arranged 3rd party pick ups for ammo crates/boxes when we use to sell them and had some heavy equipment moved and it all worked out.

how much could you possibly save by shipping it from Idaho?

Just a guess, but I'd think you'd be looking at $2500 or more?

I can see that. Thankfully my experience was positive.

Guy even stopped at the store to grab me some transom straps because the seller did not have any.

I'd ship myself to the boat in Idaho via Delta airlines, and then you know just never come back

Oldest son accepted new job in Idaho Falls and is avid duck hunter. Advised him that there was a reason they run jet boats up there. Several rocks and props later he agreed. Hell, you really don’t even need a boat to duck hunt.

This was my thought.

OP, I'd be trying real hard to drive up there, spend some time in that amazing state and then pull it back.

unless this thing was hand built by your grampa, what is so special about it to pay more than its worth to ship it?

just sell it, and then buy another one when you get down here, its not like you cant replace it easily

Be prepared. Once you inquire/post this on the WWW with any transport company, you will get inundated with email, phone calls, text messages, etc.

I know, I just went thru it when I was just trying to get an estimate on the cost to transport an automobile from Cali to LA.

Also, hot shot is very expensive. Probably 3X the price of a normal transport company.

I bought a prodigy boat in northern Georgia and thought about having it shipped down here but decided it would just be easier to make the drive. Took about 10 hours each way and I would do it again in a heartbeat to insure my investment made it back undamaged. However, Idaho is a HIKE, so I would definitely pay the $1000-2000 to have it shipped. You’re looking at probably 3-4 days to do it yourself plus close to, if not over $1000 in fuel in Biden’s America.

No doubt, I have made the drive to Idaho. Great experience but will not do it again this year. He is going to try to post it around Salt Lake City where the river bottoms are more conducive for a 40 mid motor.

Call Bubba Watkins at Gatortail. He has shipped them all over the United States.

He pulled two rigs behind his truck to Washington. Was excited because he got to go hunting ducks in the Pacific Ocean.

He might know someone that can help.

Tell son to call fly shops up there. Some of their guides might want to make the trip this time of year.

Before yall put it back in the water down here, please thoroughly clean the hull and the drive. No telling what invasive species of algae, bacteria, parasites or whatever can be lurking around on the hull you would not want to introduce to the ecosystem down here.
