7" falcon coastal

Snapped a new Falcon Coastal right in half when I lifted a smaller slot Red into the boat...I do not waste my time with a net unless it is a nice size red.

I sling the reds in the boat all day with my Castaway Rods. I really liked the Falcon but doesn't do me much good if it can't hold up to the abuse.

I have a shallow draft flats boat...so the travel distance from the water to the deck isn't much.

Ive never had an issue with snapping any rod but it does happen. Putting your off hand further up the rod while swinging fish in is a surefire way to snap a rod. Also any knicks along the blanks will create weak points - A good example is tossing them in the back of the truck with all your other gear and/or just tossing them in the garage when you get home. Not assuming that you did these things but these are usually the reasons why rods snap while fishing.

Always stored and transported it properly and treat all my rods the same. This one just happened to break. If it was a large red that I carelessly threw in the boat I would understand..but it wasn't.

I want to give Falcon another try, just don't want to be disappointed again.

I use the 2500's with 10 lb Flouro. Plenty of line, lighter, and a better feel than the bigger ones. No problems the occassional bull red or Jack.

Try it. You will like it.

I use a Stradic 4000 on dixey bar on Mobile Bay. Caught upwards of 30lbs reds on it.
