Settle a conversation about fishing licenses

Say I'm going camping for a week, June 27th-July 4th and won't be near an academy. Do I have to buy 2 licenses? If I can buy next years early, how early can I buy it and is it good from when I buy it or just when July 1 hits?

The ldwf site shows that Fishing licenses expire on June 30th. So if you bought a license on June 23, it would only be good for a week. They don't have any type of pro rating system, which sucks.

New licenses are being sold one 1 June .... The new license will be good through 2017

A fishing license purchased in June of 2016 will expire June 30 2017. Just don't buy one in May.

Starting June 1st you can buy new license that expire June 30th 2017.

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but....
I once needed a new fishing license. I was at the camp and decided to go fishing and didn't have a license for the new year. I bought one online on my phone and took a screen shot for proof. I'd imagine they can run your liscense to see if you're current.

they will send you a .pdf that you can pull up on your phone if you want that.

June 1 the license will be good until next years july1.
