I'm setting up my first food plot this weekend in Ms., and would like advice on feeder, as well as rice bran placement. Should I place together or separate?

How big is the food plot?

Put your rice bran close but not right under the feeder

Food plot is probably 30 yards across and 50 yards wide. My stand in right in the middle with a road that goes to the left of me that I intend to put a feeder 100 yards from stand. The road is not used that way cause it's where the property line ends. I sitting in the middle of freshly thinned out pines.

Just a question but if you are setting up a food plot why set up a feeder? I would use the feeder in the woods, and keep the plot as is. Planting good groceries is all you need to draw them in.

Is it not illegal to hunt over a feeder in MS?

I wouldn't put your stand in the middle of the food plot, I would put it off on the side.

No, just has to be 100 yards from the stand.

If the stand can be moved, get it out of the middle. Put it at the edge or a couple trees into the woods where you still have a good view but are not sticking out like a sore thumb.

Those pine thinning rows make good shooting lanes. Try to position the stand along a row with the feeder visible 100 yards out if you must have a feeder too.

Not sure if that math works, but I agree with the previous comment that you shouldn't put your stand right in the middle of the plot.

Yeah it is. Considering people are going to continue to feed them regardless. Once you pour corn out, its gone in 2 days

We've taken down all of our feeders. Frickers refuse to come with them in the field

Not anymore. Regs changed this year. Feeder only has to be 100 yds away

Take into wind direction for stand placement and also the route that you will enter and leave your stand from so wind does not bust you. Biggest mistake that hunters make right there is entering and leaving..
