Sea Doo boat, myth or fact: Was it made for fishing?

I remember when SeaDoo came out with a boat in the 90s there was a myth going around saying they were initially made to be bass fishing boats.
Do you remember hearing that?
If you did, is that a myth or truth?

My dad bought one because it was too good of a deal to pass up. He spent a year trying to sell it, and then donated it for a write off. You do not want to fish out of them. Riding up and down the river is okay.
Honestly, they are just big jet skis

I live on the tickfaw river and I've never seen one fishing. Mostly broke down when I do see them.

I've caught reds in Bay St. Louis off a regular Sea Doo, so to me anything that floats is made for fishing.

That is awesome.
I was really desperate to fish, so I just grabbed my pole and a couple gold spoons and jetted over to the Bay. I'd just drift the shoreline casting for reds, then crank up the engine whenever I needed a course correction. I couldn't imagine actually being desperate enough to make a Sea Doo a legit fishing vessel.

I had a buddy that had one. Used to ski and kneeboard behind it. Couldn't imagine it being good for fishing even if it had a trolling motor.

Big POS. A Bayliner is a step up.

That reminded me and I might have missed a thread about it.
Saw a Yak type set up with a small outboard on it, looked factory for sure on a trailer. It was being towed by a Benz so take it from there. Serious little rig for sure.
Anyone know about or maybe seen one?
Not so much hopefully.

I've seen one of the 17 foot pro anglers with a stick steer 2.5 and not one, but two, power poles.

Neighbor has one sitting in the driveway collecting pollen. It blew the engine a few years back and he can't even give it away...

Yamaha makes a saltwater jet drive center console...nice looking boat IMO.

Slow speed steering and maneuvering sucks for fishing. if you want to get somewhere and anchor down, then it would be just like any other boat.
They are not set up to fish out of as far as ergonomics.
I have a 21' Yamaha wakeboard boat, along with my Whaler. I have fished off of it in the Keys, but it sucks for positioning around the cabin. Really only do it off the back platform
