I held one next to a M&P compact the other day, and liked them both. They were $429 at Academy I believe, and this is gonna end up saving me around $70

Possibly after Christmas. Hell, she'll probably want to go shooting with you. We shot probably 600 rounds of various calibers the other day, and she was begging me to buy more rounds when I ran out. Needs to get a CCW also

How does this compare to the SA XD 9mm with a 3.8" barrel and 15 rd clip.

Shield:
LxWxH = 6.1"x0.95"x4.6"
19oz
7 or 8+1
It is meant to be a carry gun

XD:
7.3"xDUNNOx5.5"
28oz
16+1
It is meant to be a service pistol

They're in a different class. The XD compact is a double stack pistol whereas the Shield is a single stack.

A better comparison would be the Shield versus the XDs.

I haven't shot the Shield yet but I will say a couple of things about both.

I own an XDs and I love it. I can pocket carry it or IWB holster it. The trigger is nice and crisp and the recoil isn't bad at all. One negative is with the standard 7 round mag it's a little hard to grip.

My uncle has the shield and loves it. I put a snap cap in one the other day and played around with it for a while. It felt AWESOME. So much so that after the holidays I'm buying one.

It's lighter and thinner than the XDS. The trigger is lighter and from what my uncle told me, the recoil is very manageable.

Now that both are widely available, find a range and rent both of them.

Mine to. I had to call and wait on hold for 16 minutes to give the confirmation since the email wasn't coming through.

The website says it takes less than 5 days to ship, so who knows. They still haven't asked for my FFL's info.

Customer service response times are abysmal there. So far I have sat on hold for a total of 38 minutes waiting for someone to pick up the phone, left two voicemails, and sent three emails.

I talked to someone after a lengthy time on hold. He said it could take 10 days but the order is in and the gun is mine. I'll patiently wait. I waited a month and a half for my XDs to get fixed. This should be a piece of cake

I was hoping to get the sum bitch quickly so I can give it to my gf for Christmas. Looks like that is out of the window since they haven't even asked for my FFL info yet

Horrible planning. You know that it is gonna get heavy for Christmas. Get some damn temp workers in there at $7/hr and ship the orders out. They sure as shite charged my CC as soon as I confirmed. As it is now, I won't ever be ordering from them again. Too much of a hassle. I'd rather pay the extra money and buy it from a store.

I sent them his name, address, and phone number when I ordered, but for some reason their emails weren't getting through to me so I had to confirm over the phone.

The FFL guy said he had done business with them before, but he wasn't sure if they needed all of his paperwork or not again

I have a copy of my FFL dealers license.

This is what I email them, a copy of his license.

In fact that's what I do anytime I order online and so far no issues.

Plus a $15 fee for every shipment so if I have 7 transfers in the same shipment it's only $15 total for them all.
