If you own one, would you recommend it? Any problems with it?

It is the best mass produced 1911 on the market. Great quality at a great price.

Best budget 1911 imo. I think it beats Kimber for what you get relative to price.

It's a 1911. JMB will bless you, Glock homers will curse you but you won't care.

I have a lightweight commander. I love it. I want to get a night watchman edition.

I bought one on my birthday mainly because everyone I talked to said that same thing. One guy said he thought it was better than Colt (not sure on that but I trust that guy). I still haven't even shot it though with the flooding :(..... My range was underwater. I bought mine on Bud's for 690 although I think a better price may be had on grabagun.com

It is a cast frame. Might want to look at Colt or Sig. You can get them for good prices sometimes.

The merit's of ruger's casting abilities are well known. Never skip on a ruger because it's cast.

To use budget and Kimber in the same sentence is laughable. And to say it beats a Kimber in any way is more so laughable. I'm sure it is a great pistol but not on the same level. Just sayin

Kimber makes several 1911s under $1k which is what I consider budget for that platform. Also, Kimber is not the company it used to be. There are many many reports of QC issues. Much like Remington post Freedom Group, the new Kimbers just are not worth the money. The fact that they make a gun that is over $1k that uses a plastic mainspring housing is ridiculous. There is no excuse why their more expensive 1911s use MIM parts as well. So no, my claim is not laughable. The SR1911 is a much better buy for the money.

Well said by a man who apparently can't afford a Kimber.

Bought a Kimber.
Never fed the last round reliably, after new mags and polished feed ramps. Nevermind that there is no reason you should have to work on a weapon out of the box in order for it to run reliably.

Sold it.

Easy guys I'm just messing. I personally have a Kimber I bought about 12 years ago and have put about 1000 rounds through with no issues. As for the newer ones I have heard the same thing about feeding issues. Any man that owns a 1911 is fine by me in my book.
