Another guy on that website is saying they are .22longs, not .22LR's, despite how they are labeled. I am sure your single shot would work with them. You'd have to test to see if they feed properly in your lever action.

The whisper is not super quiet, and it is by no means a whisper. It is however a good pellet gun that I have used to drop squirrels at 40m.
The penetration you get will vary alot based on the pellet. The lighter PBA pellets seem to be more accurate at longer ranges, but this is really just a guess based on shots taken/ hits. However, the lighter pellets don't penetrate nearly as well as lead. The best penetration I have seen thus far has come from the pellets with a bb tip. They will punch through thin steel plate where the lead only leaves a dent. I have never put a chrono to the gamo, but I suspect that it falls short of the advertised 1250 fps with pba pellets.

You must hunt squirrels with a pellet gun often. I actually prefer a 22 iron sited lever action myself over a shotgun. A guy I've hunted with had a bad arse pair of Beagles that would do work in the woods.

Been looking into buying a nice air rifle lately. Stepson has a Gamo but I just dont like it. Its very loud and cheap looking even though it cost over 150. My first pellet gun was a Powerline 880 then from that one i moved to a Beeman breakdown then added a Benjamin .22. Lost all of those years ago but the Beeman wasnt the strongest but so much more accurate. Im gonna spend around 300-350 on a RWS or Beeman.
