I agree, but not for using red tide

I just remember the thread a month or two back that clearly offended the shite out of a few posters by using that term

The inflexible brain crowd. Red Tide can only mean one thing

Was going to say why and the frick would you try and hook a bull red from a 15'+ pier, but then i scrolled down and saw a few on the ground so they must've had some decent gear.

Don't know about there, but in Fl. we always had a net on a rope type dealio.

Shite, never thought of that. with all that commotion, probably could have just lowered it down and netted a few without even hooking them first.
Did it say where it was at?

no large concentrations of harmful oxygen depleting aquatic microorganisms; no care

My first thought as well. Hell, that was probably 68% of Alabama's total red population.

I was fortunate enough to boat up to a large school of reds like this off of Elmer's Island last month. It was fun!

20 years ago my FIL and I were coming back from the near rigs and about 2 miles off of East Timbalier the water looked like it was busting over rocks in a huge area. It scared me because we were still a long way from the island. It was incredible when we realized what was happening. My FIL still talks about it often. Only time I've ever seen it but it was literally awesome.
