Looks like it's ruined for the 2nd year in a row. I'm sure they'll extend it in the middle of the week while no one can go.

If snapper populations are so down that they can only endure a 3-day season, then why have a season at all? It seems like we're playing with fire here. If we had good weather and high angler participation, we could decimate the few remaining spawning class fish in a few days. Clearly we need to consider a 10 year moratorium on all harvest. I just hope that my children's unborn children can live to enjoy red snapper one day.

Bad weather during rec snap days gives more quota to charter /commercial.

Whats sad is the commercial sector was given quotas so they wouldnt have small vessels trying to run out in 8fters first day of the season before the total quota was reached, yet its ok for them to have a 3 day rec season and have small rec boats do the same.

My thought is (commercial wise); if you can't hang with the seas, cant make money, get another job.

Coming onto the island a while ago I saw only one big cat at Bridgeside. And looking at the surf, he prob got his arse beat if he was out there. It's rough as hell

Supposed to be going out of Orange Beach with some buddies Saturday on a private charter. Does that even look possible anymore given the weather forecast? (43ft. Cabo)

I had some friends that made it out to state waters yesterday. They got their arse kicked but they managed to catch limits of 15-20lb snapper.

For me no fun in that kind of seas/weather no matter how big the boat.
