Have a good buddy that is trying to put his house on the market. He has a shite ton of weeds (poison Ivy, chicken tree saplings etc) growing along the outside of his fence. He wants to try to kill as much as possible so it doesn't keep trying to grow over his fence.
Any recs? I understand roundup..... but any others for what I would guess would be a commercial type killing of weeds....

Use roundup AND 2-4-D. You can mix them in tank, together.m Only thing is that it will take roundup a little longer to work by using both together but it WILL work. Will kill most everything on a fence line.

Edit: For chicken trees, spray spike. Take a long time but will kill. Stops plant/tree from being able to use photosynthesis. Lewvesmwill come out then fall, more than once, then it finally dies.

If he wants something that will have residual effects, like keep the weeds from growing back for a year or more, then look into:

Anything with imazapyr
Sulfemeturon Methyl (Oust)
Oustar

What I use for under my fence at the farm is some roundup with a shot of imazapyr (Arsenal) and then the Oust. Lasts for about 18 months.

Also there is a product that they use around cell phone towers, electrical substations, and oil wells. I think it is called Sahara. It will turn your fence line into a Walmart parking lot. But I think it is expensive.

I use the homemade blend.

Esplanade works well on fencelines can also use it in your flower beds. Just keep it off your foliage in your beds. It will keep weeds out of your flowers beds for 6 months.
Cost about $70 gallon. Mix about 8oz to a gallon of water.

We always used diesel for that. Never failed. Environmentalists will frown on it.

Roundup concentrate with a few drops of Dawn detergent in a pump sprayer works great.

I buy the generic roundup and mix with diesel. It doesn't bead up.

Be careful with 2,4-D and use a nozzle tip with larger droplet size to prevent drift. It will frick up tomatoes.
