Based off of my own personal measuring system, that fish is at least 100" long....

I'm just over 6' 5.5", so this was probably a record,

More like Capt. Mike Frenette's waist size.

You know the difference between the OP pic and the rest of the bullreds shown??? The head on that sumbitch is twice the size of the others. That fish is over 50". Who gives a shite if it's 60 lbs or not. It was released.

This is a 48.5 inch I caught on topwater at Sebastian Inlet in May of 2013 while filming a Wild Fish Wild Places....that's Dennis Isbister on right.

We didn't put on boga or scale because she was so big....Not even close to 60# IMO

Average width of 4 fingers on a large male 3.5" Even if we say a full 4", using that picture, that fish is only 10 hand widths or 40" long.

Using your criteria and a ruler, I'm coming up with a tad over 14 hand widths, which puts it easily over 50 inches. I've caught a 40 inch red, and that one appears a good bit bigger than what I caught.

I'm coming up with about 12 widths on that one, which would be around 42 inches.
ETA: When I caught my 40 incher years ago, I think he was 32 lbs. Of course, they can vary in girth at the same length.

yeah weight can vary on a bunch of things, that's why I wish that the State Records list would put the weight and the length of the fish on public record
