Looking to purchase a hand held GPS for deer hunting. What do you guys recommend? Pros and cons about what you have experience with. Thanks.

I just use my iphone.
If you really need a handheld I have a Garmin 76CSX that did a great job but haven't used it in probably 6 or 7 years

I got a Magellan Eplorist 110t for under a $100 bucks and it works great. I was using my phone before, but some areas I could not get a signal and the battery would usually die on me for all day sits.

If you need just a basic point to point unit it's hard to beat a base model Garmin Etrex.

iPhone and gaiagps. i looked real hard at a handheld gps unit with a touchscreen. i just cant see where any of the offerings from garmin beat what i can do with my phone. i'm sure they are probably more precise with 60 gps satellites and what not but for scouting, hunting, geocaching photos, etc. the phone works just fine.
[link=(GaiaGPS)]https://blog.gaiagps.com/[/link] is badass. you can download your maps ahead of time (topo, water, google earth, etc) so signal or not you've got the maps. track routes, take geocached photos and photo waypoints. you can plan routes on your pc and use them in the field, etc. this was the first season i used it but obviously, i was thoroughly impressed. if the damn app could just lead me to the deer...

What is a good one that makes tracks, never really thought I needed one but after messing around in the north end of the basin I do now. I can navigate with my phone and compass but trying to figure out where we came in and out in the thick of that shite was a nightmare.

If your asking me, Gaia GPS will track you or you can make waypoints. Waypoints are better for me in the area I hunt (marsh) because I know where I've been was solid ground. If I tracked only, my track would look some kind of messed up from trial and error.
You can also set as many waypoints as you like and use the "guide me" feature. This will put a straight line on the screen from you to your next waypoint.
