how cold is it going to be?
standing in water?
timber? marsh? blind?

These are major factors

ETA: Cabelas - Supermag 1600

but I get cold easy, you will sweat in warm weather

Lacrosse, Cabelas, or MacksPW

Either get some light weight neoprene or complete breathable depending on where you will be hunting and if you will be standing in water continuously or not. Layer up underneath and that should be all the warmth you need in S TX.

Knowing you're in Houston, and presumably hunting around there, I would invest in breathable chest waders. They're comfortable during warm hunts, and easy enough to layer under with base layers and wader pants during late season, cold-weather hunts. I recently purchased a Game Winner set from Academy for $130 that I am pleased with so far and those or a pair similar to those is what I would recommend. Neoprene waders are bulky, heavy and unnecessarily hot for SE Tx.

Game Winner® Men's Tred-Lite Breathable Boot-Foot Waders - $130

ETA:
LaCrosse Alpha Swampfox Drop Top Realtree Max-5 600G - $170

ETA2:
Cabela's Dry-Plus™ Breathable Hunting Chest Waders – Regular - $200-220

How high is the water you're wading and are you taller than the average chicken?

My toes freeze at 60 degees , but with my supermags I can stand in 39 degree water for 3 hours and be warm and toasty

I like that pair and the high pockets, plenty of space for shells/coozie/phone etc that don't need to get wet

gotta have them up here in the mountains in the winter, you can tell a big difference without them.. and i would always rather be hot than cold while hunting

FIFY. Can't stand neoprene waders, especially the damn 1600gram thinsulate boot ones. Heavy, hard to walk in, and you're sweating before you even get settled in.

And yes, hip boots are great to have for field hunts and some stuff like that.

I prefer waders. Lightweight neoprene, bootfoot.
