I'm curious to hear answers as well. I bought a Vortex Diamondback HP last year that I'm a little disappointed with. Not real impressed in low-light and glass seems really low quality.

ETA: 300 yards max on a long shot

I believe a Leupold VX3 3-10x40 costs about $500 and IMO is one of the best values out there.

Take it FWIW

I shoot a .270 and have shot out to about 350 or so. Last month I took an Antelope at 252 (rangefinder) from my knees with a single round to the shoulder. I shoot a Leupold FX-3 in 6x with a 42mm objective. It is very clear and has never fogged or failed me. I actually have 5 of these set up on different rifles including my .270, wifes 7-08, 35 whelen, Sako Finfire, and Thompson Omega in .45.

That being said the Meopro is no slouch.

That being said, can I expect to see a big step up from a Leopold vari x 2 and the Vortex diamondback I mentioned above?

I have this same scope on my 270 T3 and bought it from igchris a couple of years ago. I have no interest in shooting a deer past 200 yards and that's really pushing it for me.

Zero complaints whatsoever on the Meopro. I had a $1,000 budget on my scope and decided on this one after looking at damn near every option there was at the time.

The meopro was my in my choices too, I know it gets good reviews around here. Only hold back is i can get leupold and zeiss at a discounted price.

Would the meopro be a good choice for the 257 weatherby mag I'm wanting to buy?

Both are fine scopes. I have a Ziess Conquest HD5 5-25x50 which I like quite a bit. Still think the Meopta's are hard to beat for the money on a hunting rifle.

If I went the meopro route, should I get 3-9x40 or 4-12x50?
