pretty darn light...and I'll vouch for most anything MH makes, especially their tents.

Upper half of the tent is mesh so it'll breath. 100% waterproof as well.

In Louisiana, a FULL RAIN FLY and a BATHTUB FLOOR are the best benefits of a higher end tent.

Definitely, for how hard the rain can come down. It's nice though anywhere it rains. All high end tents nowadays have both features. Hell, even my family Coleman tent has a bathtub floor.

I gave the Timberline to my son...looking at the Copper Canyon 6...I like being able to load the boat and go in the swamp for several days at a time...

outdoorgearlab is a cool site with comprehensive reviews and videos. If you're gonna car camp, go a size bigger than what you think you need. Also, look for a deep floor and a full rain fly.

I bought a 6 man Marmot tent last spring that is fantastic. Easy setup, ventilation is excellent, and it's good in a considerable rain.

It's a great tent, I still have one somewhere.

I'm now on a BD Hi Light because more of my camping is in cold weather months (for the SE) and solo, but it'd be terrible for LA

If you want to sleep 2 people, get a 4 person tent.

Get a wal mart one before you go spending all kind of money on something that you end up not liking or not having time for like you thought.

There are a lot of other things you'll need, spend you money there.

You may end up with a pop up.

I still use my MH Drifter 2 on snow/dirt from late spring til early fall. I've got a 4 season MH Direkt 2 for everything else.

$149

I have hiked well over 80 (on one trip) miles with this on my pack. I have car camped with it and basically put the thing through hell. Good, quality tent and I have spent many a nights in tents. The only thing I would rather stay is my hammock with mosquito net and rain fly.
