Recommend me a camping tent

I am on the market for a 2 person tent for camping. Looking for something that would be good in Louisiana year round not looking to camp in a deep driving snow storm. My first three options are..
Northface
Alps
Marmot
I am looking for something that is no more than $150 and will last longer than the $20 walmart tents.
Does anyone have any recommendations or reviews of the tents above? TIA

North Face tents are awful. Are you car camping or backpacking? Look at Kelty and Big Agnes. The marmot you linked looks decent.

For now it will be car camping, but I would like to have something that I could backpack with in the future.

How many people will sleep in it?

I would go with the Marmot out of the ones you linked. But again also look at Kelty, Big Agnes, and check out REIs tents.
Stay away from North Face tents and sleeping bags. They don't really "do" either of those items. The NF Rep told me (in a bragging manner) that they had just updated their tents and bags for 2014 after not touching them for 15 years. He somehow thought this was a selling point. To me it says they just don't care. And their new stuff isn't any good either.

I was going to recommend a cheap Wal-Mart tent. They seem to be pretty good quality, I usually replace them because they get mud and sand on the inside and I don't feel like cleaning it, not because of the quality. I've never had a quality problem with a Wal-Mart tent. There are plenty of things I don't skimp on equipment wise, but I don't see the big difference in tents.
After sweating my nuts off on GI a few weeks ago, from not on, I will only buy something with vents on the bottom to let a breeze through.
Also, I would recommend something larger than a 2 person, if you're going to put 2 people in there. They get cramped, fast. And the difference in size once they are packed isn't that big going from a 2 person to a 4 person.

Oh and make sire you get the foot print for whatever tent you get if you want it to last awhile. Of doesn't usually come with the tent.

if you want something that is going to last and be light, you will have to spend more than $150
I have a Black Diamond tent. They are expensive, but worth it IMO.

Also, I would keep an eye on Steep and Cheap, they are a sister company to BackCountry.com and have deep discounts. I keep it on in the background at work.

I have one of the coleman 7 person instant up tents and it is nice not having to mess with tent poles. Just unroll and start extending the poles less than 5 minutes and it is up. Just use it for cub scout events with my sons twice a year so cant really comment on durability.

Yea you really do get what you pay for.

He said he wants to backpack in the future. No seven or four person tents.

hmm better get two tents then as even the seven person tent is barely adequate for four people IMO.

For backpacking, I wouldn't think the difference between a 2 and 4 person tent is much. The space difference, however, is much greater.

The difference in weight is huge. Can be up to 3lbs more depending on which tents you're comparing. Space matters a lot too.

I can see where that adds up on the trail. I don't think I would want to pack an extra 3 pounds all day.
If the OP is just getting started in camping, and planning on using it from his vehicle, I don't think I would limit myself space wise. Just like every other hobby, start off small and work your way up.
Edit: To all these people who are into high end tents, where is the benefit? I've never used one for hiking or stayed in one for more than a weekend. But I've never felt that my tent was inadequate. I'm sure the money goes somewhere, so what's the difference between a high dollar tent and my wal-mart tent?
