Or just go with the TRP Operator.

That comparison doesn't even make sense. I'm pretty sure the WWI veteran hasn't been undergoing part replacements, receiving upgrades, maintenance, customization, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have the ability to maintain his prime, you know, since he's a freaking human being and tends to age as the years go by. Whereas the 1911 has not only been improved over the years, but can be maintained in perfect operational condition.

How about a musket or a cannon? I'm just saying that the argument that something is over 100 years old is not valid to me. I have shot 1911's, glocks, sigs, etc. Guess which one was the least reliable.

ETA- Don't get me wrong, I like 1911's (actually my current 1911 IS as Sig ) I just think the OP's statement was valid.

My point isn't that it's over 100 years old, my point was that it has served as an effective combat handgun for over 100 years and is still being used to this day. We've moved on from muskets, cannons, etc., I wonder why the 1911 is still hanging around? I wonder why the USMC is making a push to move back to the 1911 platform? I wonder why a lot of special operations units continue to carry 1911's?

Which comment by the OP are you referring to? And don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of H&K's and Sigs, can't say I like Glocks, but I'm not someone who thinks the 1911 is the be-all and end-all of pistol evolution and performance.

But going back to the OP's question, he specifically stated that he wanted a 1911 so that's the advice I gave him. If he was just looking for a 45ACP then I'd expand my recommendations a bit.

You ever had a Ruger SR1911 fail on you to call it less reliable? *mirror*

Yep. And my Valor never has. In summary, I am in a 1911 thread speaking from experience about 1911's.... What about you?

You're making up shite. You are telling lies to get a story straight. Even your lies speak of the unreliability of 1911's. My original point is 2 is better than 1 until you got up on a high horse about the supreme quality of 1 gun better better than this gun that has failed you. Which is bullshite.

Dude I like you as a poster and enjoy your shtick but you're in here talking out of your arse. I own 1911's, some of which have been discussed in this thread. I have fired those 1911's. Some have functioned more reliably than others. That's it.

I'm not here with a shtick. I don't think the Ruger SR1911 has ever failed you. If you want to generally talk about higher priced 1911's being more reliable... whatever, we're both pissing upwind with very little evidence. Price doesn't always make a gun more reliable. I'll take 2 reliable cheaper 1911's any day for home defense over 1 "better quality" 1911.

I'll give him $250. That's about as much as one can expect for a failed 1911

Wait, so you actually plan to use your Glock and Springfield at the same time? Do you hold them sideways too?

Anyone that knows anything about defensive or tactical shooting is going to tell you that trying to use two handguns at once is an idiotic thing to do.
