I wanna get into bow hunting. Looking at a compound. My question is this. I am right handed but left eyed dominant. Will this affect whether I get a right handed or left handed one?

With a pistol I can still shoot right handed but had to move to a weaver stance. With a rifle I've learned to live with it. Not sure what left eye right hand means for a bow though.

I would get a right handed bow. Your gonna have issues tryinng to pull it back with your left arm. Also, your going to sight it in, so its not like its going to be off

In my opinion it would be way easier to learn to shoot with the wrong eye than opposite handed. That's worse that wiping your arse with the wrong the hand.

I'm the same way, right handed but left eye dominate. I find it easier to shoot a left handed bow. Tried both.

You should always shoot with your dominant eye if possible

Your dominant eye needs to be the hand you shoot with a bow. i personally tried to fight it as a lefty trying to go righty with a bow like I do most other things, and I couldn't even get my eye to line up thru the peep hole.

Many people have switched to left hand for eye dominance very easily.

Another option is to shoot your bow with both eyes open. A lot of guys shoot like this anyway. Your eye will naturally center the pin in the peep without having to focus too much on the peep/pin. I have tried it and shoot pretty good.

Draw both bows back first and see which one feels more natural. That's the one you go with. You can adjust to your eyes. A lot of people shoot a bow with both eyes open anyway. If you do everything right handed then you should more than likely get a RH bow and learn from there.

Shoot whatever you feel comfortable shooting. I'm left handed, right eye dominant, shoot a right handed bow and I shoot left handed. Yeah, I use a right handed bow and I draw it back with my left hand, and aim with my left eye. People at Cabelas and Bowie always try to "correct" the way I shoot. It's comfortable though, and I'm accurate shooting that way. So just do whatever feels right.
