Author takes a shite on the abilities of hunters, but would be fun to be a part of if I were there.

A bunch of fricking morons commenting.

What's the % of hunters to hunting accidents annually? Yet the same kind of idiotic statements about how "dangerous" this will be.

How reliably can a novice sort Burmese pythons from native Florida snakes-

Don't think even I would confuse them with water snakes

I lived in Miami and they have been doing this for several years. The actual amount of snakes killed is WAY lower than you would expect given the projected population numbers.

From what I understand, they don't just sit out on logs like an 87lb water moccassin and sun themselves so shooting them from distance is not usually an effective way to hunt them.

That being said...let anyone and everyone that wants to hunt those things do so IMO. The most effective way to get rid of the bastards is when there is ACTUALLY a cold winter in S. FL. A few years back when I was there it got cold - maybe one or two nights below freezing.

They said it would wipe out the population. Didn't happen. They are adapting and came back with greater numbers. Killing the ones you can kill can't hurt anything.

Yea it's so "cruel" to hunt them......until their kid gets swallowed up by one. I'm all for it. Good luck towing that SOB back to your boat or truck though by yourself

The state should put a bounty on them. That would get them dead.

Nah, Floridians are pussies. they'd need to import some coonasses, and have a cook off.

No those things eat Florida panthers, we don't want them eating our Louisiana Black Panthers.

The saying "fricking like rabbits" didnt come about for no reason. The reproductive capabilities of rodents is light years beyond reptiles.

Surprised they can't make a difference by trapping them, especially in the winter when they might be attracted to warm things..
