Last time I drove it , last week, it did have some hard misses when driving at all speeds. SO I may have more issues , unless the hose you mentioned, could cause that type of misfiring too. Thanks

IF there is a serious issue that can be had.. it will be me. Nothing is ever simple when it comes to me and vehicles it appears. Probably too much to ask for it to be a hose leak . Probably spend my Christmas money fixing this dang thing...

Quick question for a follow up Went out and cranked the truck. Ran fine until it warmed up(drove it about 5-6 miles) then it started the missing and wanting to die at low idle again. My question is: if it were a phaser wouldnt it run rough from the start and not just once it warms up?

Cold engine = Open loop

Warm engine = closed loop and reading all sensors and making adjustments based off what the sensors are reporting.
If you are getting unmetered air(that is what a vacuum leak is since the air entering the engine id not passing the mass airflow meter) then a lean run condition will occur causing what you are talking about.
Is the check engine light on?

get code read at Autozone. See if you have any lean mixture codes stored. This is usually dead giveaway

MJ.. Thanks dude. Appreciate it. I am going to try and limp to the nearest autozone adn get the codes. The hose you are referenciing comes out of the passenger side valve cover , right? I looked at mine and it does not look like it runs to the back of the throttle body. I may be looking at the wrong hose, but it rund behind the throttle body to connects to (I have no idea what) on the fire wal right in front of the drivers side??

I have an AEM intake installed (was there when I bought it) would the installation of this alter where the hose comes in to the throttle body? I watched the linked video and I have no hose located as shown in the video. Sory for all the questions.

I shojld have clarified. The 02 and later knce they started putting composite intake manifolds and 3 valve heads were a huge piece of shite.
Your 99 is a good motor. Only real problem they ever had was valve guide issues around 120, 000 miles.

I get them mixed up.

The 98 4.6 I had was great, the 2006 5.4 was a boat anchor.
Iirc, they were all called "triton".
