When not engaged, how high is the pole above the boat?

shoot me an email, ill sent you a video.

the pole itself is 8.5 feet, we hooked up a go pro to the top and got great video of it if I can get my dad to email it to me. since its in the back of the boat, no one has a problem fishing with it. no worse than having a t-top or a bunch of 7 foot rods off a leaning post or off the console

Any update on how well it holds the boat? Also, any pictures on how you installed it? I am thinking about putting one on my 18' Xpress CC. I don't know if I should spend the extra money and get the talon or if the micro will hold the boat. Looks like i am right at the top of the weight limit.

honestly man take my advice and put a regular power pole on your boat. the micro pole is designed for smaller boats and kayaks. just get the sportsman or find a deal on a used one.

don't get a talon, haven't heard anything good about them.

also power pole has the best customer service ive ever dealt with.

I even have a 4ft spike I used on occasion. I bought my spikes from Grainger rather than powerpole. Any 3/4 inch rod will work.

did not know this, i'll look into getting a smaller one. im usually in less than 5 feet of water anyway

You have to sharpen it or else it won't grab from the full up position. I just put a grinder in a vise and spun the rod on the wheel. A bench grinder would work too. Probably even a drill with a sanding wheel.

I've got the 2-stroke 90 yammer and man that thing is bullet proof. I am probably going to get the micro instead of paying the extra $600-700 for the power pole. I think this will do I need. It says max weight 1500, my boat is under that and close to that with gear. So, I think it should work out well. If not, ill probably just but another one and run dual micros.
