a choupique, aka bowfin?

Put another way, in a showdown between a mythical 200 pound choupique and an alligator gar of same size, who survives?

I mean, choupique don't get 6-8' like gar fish.

Nothing creeps me out more than peacefully fishing a bank, looking over the side of the boat, and seeing a 6'+ gar staring back at you.

Sure, but an 8 pound sturgeon or golden dorado would get worked by an 8 pound choupique if they were tied tail to tail.

In Florida they 'piques bowfin & mudfish

Used to hate when pig n jig fishing in Basin & a choupique would pick up the jig & you crossed it's eye's on hook set thinking you had a stud bass

For me here in FL it's seeing a 1' gator because I KNOW there's a 10' momma gator close by.

thats a mean motherf
i broke the tip of my bass rod the other day fighting one thinking i had a 6 pound bass, ended up being about a 2 pound shoe-pick
