I’ve said this before, but we need to use green peace tactics on the pogey boats. Block them from leaving port, follow them out staying on their stern s they can’t release their nets. Post video on you tube.

is there a way to see if Omega donates money to Wildlife and fishery?

Just not enough people fighting against this. Only online.

This first guy I would terminate on the spot if I headed up the LaDWF based on this idiotic statement right there.

Same place they were when Barry paid his campaign donors to dynamite all our rigs and sell them for scrap under the cover of preventing another Macando. Fish floating up from the removal and a HUGE loss of habitat. Of course none were converted to reefs because Piyush had taken the $20M out of the Rigs to Reefs DEDICATED fund to help balance his budget while running for President. This state has been bent over by our politicians for generations for their own personal gain, and even term limits hasn’t fixed it. Omega is obviously lining all the right pockets, every other state on the East and Gulf coasts have run them off or throttled them back.
I’ve talked to a number of long time fishermen and biologists that believe their raping of the pogy schools is why we have sharks and porpoises eating so many trout and snapper off our hooks. They’ve lost one of their main food sources.

Exactly. The base of the food chain is being removed and the people who are supposed to be managing this shite are completely MIA.
I have almost no biology expertise but even I know this. Amazing these people can say with a straight face this doesn't need more regulation.

You can see who donates to the politicians who decide who runs LDWF.
You can also see who voted against the pogey bill and who gives them money.
The state rep and senator who represent the area where the processing plant is located voted against the bill for obvious reasons.
Unfortunately the head of the senate committee where the bill went has an omega plant in his district.
Either way Omega knows how to play the game in Baton Rouge.

The LDWF Secretary and Commissioners are appointed by the governor…and Omega and Daybrook/Oceana have paid him handsomely to allow them to continue to rape and pillage our coast.

I dont know why CCA doesn’t fly drones over pogie operations. It’d be real easy to do and would give an accurate portrayal of the bycatch.
Agreed. Do this and run a whole bunch of commercials about them destroying eco system.

The OB should start a gofundme to pay for this.

Pogey boats use spotter planes; they will/have/would call FAA and report drone activity as a safety hazard. Even though the planes leave after the nets are set they will be used to prevent footage.

Is it not possible to haul these fish in without the nets killing them?
They don't need them alive. They grind them up for animal feed and fish oil supplements (including fish oil in women's make up). They are not for human consumption.
I wonder if Holly Beach smelled any different with the raft of dead fish off the coast. Probably not. Been that way ever since I grew up in Carlyss.

I don't know if Omega bought out Zapata-Haynie but back in the 90s I used to work at an airfield where all the ZH birds (Cessna 182RGs and Cessna 210) were based. Those guys were great to hang around with. Supervisor flew the 210 T/C was N761QV we called her Queen Victoria.

just like the stupidity of anti-spearfishers. Spear fisherman leave very little behind. Not even the same world as commercial fishing.

Pogy boats have ruined the lower Chesapeake fishing by wiping out the menhaden. Maryland does not allow them

I've never heard anyone make a derogatory remark about spearfishing.

'I've never heard anyone make a derogatory remark about spearfishing.'
Clearly you know nothing about it.
