Electric or fixed blade? How much are you looking to spend?

If just a regular filet knife you cant beat a Dexter Russel.

Dexter Sani safe for a regular knife.

For bass and catfish I'd stick to an electric though and any decent one will be fine for that. Neither of those is tough to clean.

Thanks.

Electric - American Angler

Fixed Blade - Dexter Russel sani safe

Dexter Russell bread knife for redfish

Rigid sawzall for reds/sheapshead

My american angler electric has been holding strong for 4 years now with original blades cleaning hundreds of trout each year. Trick for electric it to only use on soft tissue fish (trout, bass, etc.)

No single blade for all fish, I use multiple:

Cutco for trout/anything that is a simple fillet.
Dexter 8" butcher for redfish when doing halfshell.
Dexter 9" utility for heading/heavy scaled cuts.

So for bass:
Cutco
For catfish:
Dexter 9". I usually just skin them and cut into sections.

Big fat Bubba Blade. It has replaced my electric knife. Works great on everything from perch to red fish.

I switched to the american angler knife this summer after the recommendation from a friend. They are much more expensive than the piranha knife and other electric knives but have a lifetime warranty on the motor.

So far it hasn't met a redfish, trout, or bass it doesn't like, I've been happy.
