Anyone here have any idea how much it costs to repair pilings for piers and boat houses? I am looking at a house in Freeport, TX and it has a couple that might need repair and I want to know what sort of costs are associated with repairing pilings.

Thanks

Wood, they look to be about 8-10 inches in diameter.

Yea what kind of damage do they have? You might have to replace since they are wooden piles

That normally takes a Trackhoe to push them in, how accessible is the property? Are some of the Pillings over the water that might require the Trackhoe to be on a barge?

Sorry I didn't take any pics. At the waterline it looks like there's just a little deterioration, where the wood is sort of conical shaped going to the water. He had a couple jacketed with concrete, and I'm guessing that might need to be done the other affected ones, just trying to get a guess as to how much that might cost.

I doubt you are looking at a cheap repair, depending on age, it Could be replacement. Last time I checked around the house wooden bulkhead was running $125 lf...

little deterioration

You probably don't need to do anything. If it gets so bad that half the pile isn't gone then you would want to start looking to fix.

You could look for something like this in your area.

$2500 to replace one 12" rotten piling in Grand Isle this summer (by barge).

Ouch!

I just replaced a short crappy pier with a longer pier, put in a 4 piling lift and replaced some pilings on my main dock. Pilings were $11/ft driven (from a barge). Under a house is a different ballgame. If the damage is minimal, you could do what WPBTiger showed.

Another option if the decay isn't too bad is use a 12"+ pipe to wrap piling and fill with concrete. You have to get coverage from water bottom to high tide line.

Not to hijack, but since this thread seems to have run it's course I have a question.
Any of you Cocodrie fishers that travel the Caillou from Cecil's or above seen the damage to a camps piling. It's about 5' above the water line and took a serious hit to do it. I hate to think what the camp owners are going to think when they see it.
It's maybe midway between Cecil's and the locks.
