Paid white tail hunts VS really earning a trophy

Am I the only one who gets frustrated when folks boost about a deer that they shot in a pin? I'm not knocking those who do this but I've been around some who show pics and tell their story but forget to mention that the animal was raised like a cow. I hunt reserves and have a lease where I feed but it's still a challenge. Idk, I work all summer on food plots and scout my arse off to put in the work needed make a kill. When someone shows pics and pokes their chest out about a caged animal it aggrivated the shitZ out of me!

I would bet the majority of the pictures on this board are from fair chase hunts. While I don't know everyone on here I am under the impression that the great majority of deer killed here are from hard work, not in a fence.
I have never hunted a high fence, however a few thoughts if you go to a ranch in Texas that is 40,000 acres but high fenced is that still hunting in a fence? I don't think so.
My last thought on these kinds of posts are think about what you are saying. Hunting comes under enough fire due to killing animals. The worse thing we can do IMO as hunters is turn against each other due to hunting over bait, running dogs, hunting in a fence, etc.... if it's legal we should try and stand behind it and hold rank rather than expose our flanks to further attack.

These threads are always great too

2 things.
One: I don't have mule deer to hunt.
Two: Killing an 160" plus deer where I hunt is like winning the lotto. You can't kill what you don't have.

I notice this trend lately and not just on this site. The same topics are being started on other hunting forums as well. Public land hunters vs. private, high fence vs no fence, meat hunters vs trophy hunters, etc.
While I respect the opinion of all outdoorsman, outdoorswomen, and outdoorkids; I strongly feel that there are much more important issues we should be focusing on collectively. I enjoy hearing about others' hunting strategy but bashing someone for choosing a certain, legal type, of hunting is crossing the line imo.
We should not be forming clicks within our population and judging our fellow hunters for enjoying their time hunting as they see fit, but rather, we should stand as one to protect our rights and conserve our hunting resources against the anti-hunters and anti-gun factions.
We owe it to those whom taught us what we know about hunting and conservation as well as to the future generations of hunters and conservationists.

No nooo. No butt hurt here. If I wanted to I could def drop some coin on a guaranteed wall hanger. Personally, I wouldn't get much satisfaction from it is all. Someone mentioned mule deer. This thread is clearly about whitetail which we do have an abundance of in La. Oh and KR, I'll proof read my posts from here on out just for you padna. Didn't take ya for a grammar nazi... Anyways, I didn't realize that the subject has obviously been beaten to death on here so my apologies. I've just been having to sit through weeks of a few guys in the office talk about their tamed deer while I'm putting in work.

Am I the only one who gets frustrated when folks boast about furniture that they bought from a store? I'm not knocking those who do this but I've been around some who show pics and tell their story but forget to mention that the Furniture was built in a factory. I hunt for good materials and have a shop to work in but it's still a challenge. Idk, I work a few weekends building and scout my arse off to get the materials needed to make something nice. When someone shows pics and pokes their chest out about a store bought piece of furniture it aggrivated the shitZ out of me!
Hopefully you do the "work" because you enjoy it. Stop being petty.

I do enjoy the time spent in the woods, it's why I do it. It's why I hunt. Referencing building or buying furniture?? Nice...

Just like the very fine folks from our very own OT "FAF" and "is this or that trashy" crowd! Just do you...if it makes you happy and you enjoy it, do it.
I'm not too proud to say I like my flat bill hats, affliction gear, my stick people stickers of my family on my back glass, and my cargo shorts.

Its like hooking up with a girl in a bar or something or banging a hooker. One takes effort, one takes money (well one takes a more direct approach about the money). Some people are morally against banging hookers, but if someone had a chance to bang a really hot one, it's still a cool story.

Not to mention fun too, right?

Exactly, you still get to mount a trophy in either circumstance.

That analogy works an a lot more levels than i thought when I started typing it. . I'm now contemplating opening a brothel / paid hunt ranch.

You think all this stuff magically goes away when you put up a high fence? More work goes into managing a ranch than scouting public property.

That's a can't miss deal right there

I just shot a trophy in a high fence area and can agree while heartedly with you that scouting tracking and them killing deer is more rewarding, however seeing and killing animals that big us still a huge thrill and worth getting excited about
