Looking for a nice, upscale hunting club where I can take my son to blast a big buck. We can get all the does we want at our camp, but decent bucks are rare. Need a place where a good kill is guaranteed - cannot go home empty-handed. Driving distance from Baton Rouge preferred.

I did not know Covey Rise did big game hunts.

I am no marketing genius but having a fence in the background of their whitetail buck pic screams canned hunt.

I have never been, not much on "hunting" inside a fence, but to each his own, the op was looking for a guarantee ,

MY brother in law goes to Giles every year and he has killed some really nice (not unreal) deer with his bow. I think his last one was right at 155

Does he hunt late or early season bow at Giles?
I'm looking at booking one next year

I can say without a doubt if you're willing to spend the money Giles is the place to go. No guaranteed kills like a high fence outfit but they have some incredible opportunities. I've been 3 years in early January and killed 3 bucks. It's nothing to see 70-100 in the food plots late season.

I've never been, but isn't Giles pretty much naturally high fenced being an island?

I have never been either, but assumed deer could swim?

Probably closer to being a low fence, limited pressure, no reason to leave unless rising water, but could if they wanted to.

Uh, no. I used to hunt near Giles. Big bucks routinely swam to and of of the "Island". Theses are lightly hunted, well managed, free range deer.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll report back if it works out and we bag a big one!

I took my daughter last year to a place in Cotulla ,Tx that I found on Texas hunting forum in the guides and outfitters section. 600 acre high fence. Lodging was clean and ok. It is a trailer. Just saying that since you said upscale in post. but buck is guaranteed. Can also shoot hogs and turkey. Small pond where my daughter caught bream every cast which she loved. He only books one fame at a time. I paid $2 k and daughter shot a "management" 10 pt and a doe. Will see a lot of deer with some being huge. It was my first high fence experience. It was fun especially for daughter to get a nice buck. Look on that website. The guy goes by the name deerhound on there. He has pictures and info on there.

Drive to south Texas for the experience and big deer. In a few days of hunting he can see more deer than most Louisiana guys see in a lifetime. Find a place with a big ranch and after hunting the stand in the morning they take you to ride on the truck to shoot does and pigs then stand again for the afternoon.

But where ever you go don't try to rush in hunt and rush out. Make a vacation out of it.
