Its not that far from GI to Leeville
Ive already faced the fact Ill be driving all over. Last year I launched 5 times: Golden Meadow, Leeville, Bridgeside, Public Kayak Launch on GI, then finished roadside off Old LA1.

I guess the weather forecast about wind was pretty accurate. Everyone needs to be safe with the small craft advisory and big tide expected.

Paddlepalooza Eve baws and looks like the wind is already there. Anyone on the island to report? Are we at 2' or 4' seas yet?

If it was me I'd pick up a case of beer, a ton of live bait, and a bucket to sit on. Start at the island and and roadside fish up LA1 until you get to Leeville. You could very likely catch your slam, and the worst case is you'd be drunk.

Wind was as ridiculous as forecasted, but it didn't cause many problems for us.
Lots of reds caught... first one of the morning was an upper slot/baby bull.. took me for a nice little ride and nearly had it in the net when the hook came flying toward me. Needless to say, some very choice words were said.
I'd like to think it would have been over slot... it makes me feel better about losing it.
Rest of the day was smaller reds; kept a few that were 24". No flounder (surprise!) and no legal specks were caught either. Not a bad day fishing, but a tough tournament day.

Caught some reds and specks. No flounder. I weighed a 24" red and 16" trout for total weight of 7.05.
Wind was ripping all day. South wind. Water was high and tide rising all am. The reds were literally in the tall marsh eating snails and shrimp.

Switching from braid to flouro was a huge mistake. I was limited to just one rod that I didnt change to flouro. Dinks and undersized reds all day. I missed 2nd place leopard red by 1/2" that I now really wished I spent more than a second checking size. I probably could have squeezed the tail and get it.
My wife barely missed winning womens category. She caught a bunch of 11" trout and a 12" would have given her 1st place.
Rough day but fun day. Not sure if anyone posted, ~230 kayakers competed, 102 weighed in, 2 slams were caught and only 5 total flounder. I think a 2.5lb trout placed. Thats a huge difference from last year with 30 slams and loads of 5lb trout.
