Spent a week in Breckenridge with my wife, kid and good friend's wife and kid (he missed his second vacation with me in 2 years due to another new job.) We had a train ride, drove to the top of Mt. Evans (14k'+) Horse back riding, rafting, panning for gold, hiking, rodeo, etc. Great trip for the kids and adults...

It was 78 degrees when I took this yesterday. It was 86 when I left the office a while ago.

Cool air coming from the glacier and in front of the waterfall helped.

I work in the Mayacama Mountains near the Pacific Coast. We get this marine layer that comes in thru the coastal range and travels thru the valleys. The marine layer of cloud/fog forms just above the cold Pacific ocean water, the warmer air above acts like a seal, and keeps the air below it from mixing.

When I came in to the office the leading edge of this layer was about a mile and a half back in the valley. By the time a drank my coffee and read a few emails the leading edge had come even with my office. Pretty sweet to be able to watch the weather like this.

Kayaking today. Lake will probably freeze up soon so may be one of the last chances o do Mendenhall Lake. First picture you can see where fresh water from a stream enters a silty, glacial lake.

eastern ID, SC MT, western WY

flew to SLC a couple of weeks ago, drove up to w yellowstone, stayed a few days, hit a few state parks (missori headwaters, madison buffalo jump, lewis & clark caverns (caverns were closed)). they opened up yellowstone on the day i was slated to leave, so i meandered through the west side of the park and was still around 5 getting out. before i made it to old faithful i had to make myself stop stopping so much (would love to spend a year in yellowstone just taking it all in). targhee, teton, yellowstone, gallatin, but most of that was from the outside.

seriously, i could get lost up there. it was amazing. best trip of my life, to date, and i barely scratched the surface
