Orange vest squirrel hunting?

Do squirrels see orange and is a orange vest required when hunting squirrels during deer gun seasons? Thanks for your replies.

During open gun season, yes it is required and smart. It isn't an issue on private land, but I wouldn't consider squirrel hunting on public land during an open gun season even with orange coveralls.

Thanks 4LSU4, it's private and got the whole camp to myself this weekend.

Per LWF regs, orange not required for small game on private lands only public regardless of which deer season open. In fact vest not required for deer on private lands only orange hat! Not sure that i'd trust it given the number of trespasser/poacher threads seen here.

Thanks, anybody know if squirrels see orange?

I would at least wear it coming and going...you never know who is hunting property line or trespassing

If they do it must not bother them. I have them come by my tree pretty regular when Im hunting and they usually don't give me a second look unless I move. I think being still is more important than camo

At least wear a hat or something. Too many idiots out there and I've heard too many stories, even if it is private land.

We don't still hunt for squirrels: We walk and shake vines / beds. Using that method it doesn't matter what you wear because you aren't trying to be stealthy.
I would wear an orange hat on public land and stay on the move going from bed to bed. If you get one turning the tree on you then you can always take the hat off and stash it under some brush to be more inconspicuous (or put it on on the tree on the opposite side to may help turn the squirrel towards you).
Research suggests that squirrels can see color BTW.

I'm pretty sure they can. I'd wear orange during rifle season.

If I'm on public land. Idgaf what I'm hunting I'm wearing orange. Unless I'm duck hunting I'll take it off once I'm setup
