Just looking at the different UTV's. Don't have anyone in the family that has the Honda so I came here to see if anyone has one and whats their likings/dislikings?

Is a UTV a side by side?

The pioneer 700 sucks! It's a single cylinder engine with no low range. Way under powered. But there is a 1000 pioneer coming out soon that is a v-twin with a low and you are able to shift into all 6 gears with the paddle shifters. If I was looking I would wait for it.

900 Ranger's are pretty legit. Cousin has one but blew the front diff. Found a guy in Arkansas that builds a custom much more robust diff and we out that in.

Guessing the consensus here is Polaris Ranger?

Very good friend of mine has one and I've ridden in it several times.
I have a mid-size ranger. The Honda rides really well and seems to have decent power however I would hate to have to change gears in the thing. If you want to cut up even a little it would be pretty hard.
I prefer my Ranger and I am biased.

To answer the question I have no idea but Honda is so far behind its ridiculous. I've got a 15 ranger 900 and love it. The only person I I I that has had a ranger and didn't very much like it is KR.

Pioneer 1000 to be out in October!

To start, I'm a former seller of Hondas and roder of Polaris.
The honda is reliable. It's low on power for turning tires, but does quite well towing things heavier tban a SxS should. the ride sucks, or at least it isn't great. If being used for hunting, zilla wides is a 27-28 is the best bet. Friendly will beat Brookhaven on pricing.
The Polaris 800 is just as reliable as the Honda. The 900... Meh, it is marginally less reliable. Keep the fluids changed in the 800 and drive to keep the belt tight and they are a great unit. The liberty motor in the 800 is probably the best motor ever put into a bike.
If I had to buy a hunting SxS, I would go ranger. The price is better. The power to the wheels is double. And the motor is a better design.

If not planning work the bike (pulling heavy trailers, dragging logs out of the woods, or rolling hay bails) the CanAm is a great option too. Pricewise it is a bit higher though.

I agree the 800 is one of the most solid motors ever built, but everything else is far from the reliability of a Honda. The bearings, bushings, tie rod ends, front diff, and axles are all junk on the 800. The 900 motor may be less reliable, but they made significant improvements over other aspects of the UTV that are far better than the 800 platform. All that being said I think the Ranger 900 or 800 is what the OP needs. They are still far better than any of the Honda UTVs out there.

I don't follow, the comparable can am has more HP and torque than the Polaris ranger.

But the worst CVT and less bed capacity. They are not made for work.

It may seem nitpicky, but my 07 canam had a twisted frame less than 6 months after I bought it. I never jumped or abused it, I did tow a few trees.
They make excellent machines, but their frames are poorly engineered... Actually they are over engineered while the polaris frame looks like it was draw by someone with zero education but a practical knowledge. The polaris one uses two tubes that run nearly 3/4 the length of the bike.

I'm guessing someone didn't follow the maintenance recs for greasing.
A polaris should be hit with nearly a full tube of grease everytime it gets submerged or pressure washed.
It is annoying, it is a design flaw, but I have never had to replace a suspension component, steering component, a bearing, or a bushing on a polaris.
But, I admit to buying red grease by the case. Actually 3 and 4 cases at a time. And no, I'm not joking.
I have been known to drill and tap grease fittings...EVERYWHERE.

Check out the 2016 Full-Size Ranger 570. Its basically the old Ranger 800 that they made for years with 4 less HP. If you are looking for the best deal right now the Ranger 900's have over $1000 in rebates on them.
As far as Can Am, they are releasing a brand new bench seat SXS to compete with the Ranger and the Viking. I'm expecting it to be around 100hp and most certainly will more payload and towing capacity. Don't worry though, Polaris will release a 1000cc not to long after Can Am releases theirs just to make sure they have the biggest and baddest on the market.

Oh, I greased the crap out of them. Actually my bushings have held up well, but my bearings and tie rod ends were shot around 100 miles. Not just mine either. Everyone I know with RZRs and Rangers have had the same problems. It's minor stuff but it does get annoying.
