I'm sure it just has the shortened length with a standard spring and that works for typical loads. Probably never designed a specific spring that covers subsonic as well.

I stand corrected. That spring and buffer is what I have.

I guess my only option is to open the gas port.

Magpul’s wrench is my personal favorite, very well made and versatile. I also love their BEV block. Grab those two things, then a set of Grace roll pin punches and roll pin holders and you’re set.

Finally got my 300blk tuned in yesterday. Had to drill the gas port diameter out all the way to an 1/8" and switched from an Aero adj. gas block to a standard low profile gas block. I think part of my problem was I had alignment issues.

- S&B 220gr began to cycle (did not cycle before current setup) but did not stay open on last round.
- Winchester WB 200gr cycled 100% and stayed open on last round.
- Reminton GB 220gr cycled 100% and stayed open on last round.

Had to learn about ammo types and chamber pressure vs gas port pressure from this video:

Cycling Subsonic 300BLK Ammo

Well, now that the gun fully cycles, this gun kicks like a mule and the gas is horrendous. Ejection pattern is perfect at the 3/4 o'clock position. Any adjustment there I feel like it's going to put me back to where I started. Which has lead me to this question:

Have any of you bought this KAK K-Spec BCG with "Down Vents"?

What it does is instead of ejecting the gas out of the 2 holes in the side of the carrier, it diverts it with 4 holes in the bottom of the carrier into your magazine and trigger housing.

KAK swears up and down that this isn't an issue and apparently, they have sold hundreds, or maybe even thousands, of these in addition to 1000s of rounds test fired. It's a $200 BCG. You can get the carrier for only $110 though.

For those of you that have bought it, was it worth it?

Before I got that BCG I’d get a good adj gas block. I have SLR’s on both my 300BO and they run like tops.

What charging handle are you using? Just asking because I'm in the middle of a build and got the Radian to hopefully help with the gas.

And what buffer weight are you running since you say it kicks like a mule. Just trying to learn lessons through you

I've looked at that KAK BCG that you mentioned. I think the BCG specifically for this gun is going to be my last purchase. Going to run it for a bit with a cheap milspec from my other gun. I am concerned like you to make a drastic jump to a different gas configuration. Also seems like your mags will get disgusting...not that it matters all that much, but still.

Ahh ya shoulda let me send you that slr dimple jig to check before drilling it out if ya near by. Did you try it after drilling but with the adj block still on?

I have never used that KAK BCG but to me I would think dumping the gas into the mag and trigger group would foul those areas up quicker?

If you had the adj block back on can't you put a heavier buffer in while adjusting gas to help recoil?

So I don't need their enhanced BCG when I buy this? Blood Maker

the "enhanced", or K-Spec, BCG just gets you the sand cutter rails and dual ejectors. if that isn't worth it to you, then just get the standard BCG.

it doesn't appear the K-Spec with Down Vents is an option unless you purchase it separately.

I'd hold out for a PSA with the EPT if you're going for a budget lower.

What is the cheapest way to buy or build an AR?

1. Purchase the Anderson Arms special at $350 they we see sometimes?

2. Buy Lower and complete w/Bcg upper separately?

3. Buy stripped lower and separate parts with upper, then buy Bcg?

3, usually, if cost is just the factor.

But it’s hard to beat PSA’s options so I’d go with 2 if looking to put together a budget AR.

I don’t have any experience with Anderson Arms

what's your time worth?

think of it as a car. the lower is the body. it can be whatever you want.

a 30 year old Honda Civic or a 2024 Ferrari

the upper is the engine

a 30 year old Honda Civic engine or a 2024 Ferrari engine

do you want to put a brand new 2024 Ferrari engine in a 30 year old Honda Civic.... because you can.

i would equate that to the Anderson lower i linked previously and pairing it with a Daniel Defense upper from Brownells.

it all depends on what you want and what configuration you need it to be.

It's available as an upgrade for additional $90. Is it worth it?

Is that Anderson lower really going to be that much worse to be a old Civic compared to a Ferarri. Or is it more like getting a Ford work truck and putting in aftermarket parts to make it feel more like a Platinum package? The features fit, and work....however you still have vinyl floors, tape deck, and some rattles. But you don't really give a shite about those anyway.
