I'll be damned. I always assumed it was the upper.

They want the part with the numbers on it

Aight gents, im down to either a DD, BCM, Spikes or Faxon barrel. the faxon would be a pencil barrel the other two are the light weight variety. Are the DD, Spikes and BCM worth the extra hundo I would be spending? I keep talking my self in and out of the Faxon.

I got the faxon 11.5" big gunner
Posted on 7/30/16 at 7:45 pm to NOLAGT
I'd be going with the 14.5 gunner if I went Faxon.
Does gas port size play that much role in the grand scheme of the system? Or am I reading to deep into the ar15 crap?

It does as far as I know. Idk how it is with the 14.5 but I'm getting an adj gas block because I plan to run it suppressed and un suppressed at times and I want to dial it all in.

I haven't handled one, but I hear the Solo Lite is a great handguard.

Okay should I worry about lightweight profile barrels getting hot quicker and longevity?
The DDM4v11 and the LW is only an oz difference. I prefer the standard govn't profile barrel but I see a lightweight being available for sale.

I have the helix MLOK series on my 300BO and i am very impressed.

I need an 11" (10.92) so the helix was out.
I like the LW barrels. Idk that they would get that much hotter quicker but I don't know. I'd say they should cool faster with less material as well.

New to the AR world...
Can any of you vouch for Sulzer Firearms? I went to Bowie the other day to check out their supply, and someone said to check out Sulzer Firearms...that he has some good prices on good manufacturers. But from what I understand, Sulzer builds his guns, but cannot disclose the manufacturers of the uppers, lowers, etc. Though I hear they're all very good manufacturers.
I'd like to spend somewhere around the $800 range for a basic set up...no grip, optics, etc.
Would any of you recommend going to Sulzer?

No, but I hear similar good things as you have.

You can get a complete rifle from a lot of places, well under that price range. The entry level carbines from Ruger, Smith and Wesson, DPMS and a number of others are going to be very friendly to your budget and leave you some room to start towards a red dot, holographic - whatever sight you're looking to add.
You can get complete weapons from PSA and BCM at or near your budget, as well.

Sulzer post here. His stuff is good to go. You probably spoke with Carson at Bowies. He post here as well.
Instead of buying one already built. Skip back 100 pages and start reading. Learn what parts do what and how they work. Learn what you want and what is useless. Then, go to YouTube and learn how to build your own. You will appreciate it more and it will be what you want for cheaper.
