I remember a while back reading that you basically sear it on the grill for 2-3 mins on each side then stick it in the oven. What is the oven temp and time on that?

Happy Father's Day fellas

I reverse sear them. About to put three on shortly actually.

Eta: the simple way to describe it is just to cook them indirect at 250-300 until internal temp is about 10-12 degrees below target temp. Pull them and bring the grill up to 650-750 then sear for 60-90 seconds per side. I do 60.

a few minutes on each side on very hot coals

it all depends with the cut of steak. i always do ribeye and let the flare up from the fat cause the flame in the coals and sear the steak

eta and never more than med rare

Cast iron all the way here.
Pull out of fridge a few hours before and salt pretty heavily both sides.
Preheat oven to 550
Get cast iron skillet smoking hot
2 minutes either side and the edges

Then oven for about five minutes for a steak that's about 2inches thick

Same. I'll never cook a steak any other way again.

Throw it in the oven for 30 mins at 250. Slap it on the skillet for 30 seconds a side. Haven't bbq'd a steak in a good while because of this shite.

Salt and pepper on both sides
Canola oil in the skillet
Heatt black iron skillet
Seer both sides 45-60 secs
Stick in the over on the highest it will go without being on broil 2-3 mins side
Let rest on an upside down saucer for 8-10 minutes

That's for 1 1/2" thick steak cooked to med rare

Seems like it would just have that prime rib bland taste to it. I'm a big fan of the gradient.

60-90 second per side sear depending on size/cut. On egg, wide arse open 700.

Remove place in rack in the oven so my egg sucking dogs can't get to it.

Bring egg down to 350.

Put steaks back on after about a 15 minute rest. Cook to desired temp.
