TFB - Tikka TSR-1

quote:

Beretta, known for their plethora of products and their M9 service pistol for the US Army, has announced a partnership with McRee Precision and the introduction of a new limited edition Tikka rifle. The new rifle, dubbed the “TSR-1” is a combination of Tikka’s barreled action and McRee’s custom aluminum chassis. The barreled action comes straight from the high-end parts bin. Its from the Tikka T3 Compact Tactical Rifle line.

The barrel is a “semi-heavy” contour, coming in at 20? with a threaded muzzle (5/8×24 for those curious). The weapon is available in .308 Winchester and .260 Remington to start at 1/11 and 1/8 twist, respectively. 6.5 Creedmoor is listed on Tikka’s website, but does not seem the SKU has gone public yet. The action is finished with a teflon-coated bolt and mounts into the chassis via a steel recoil lug.

The chassis has all of the goodies that shooters clamor for. The forend is replete with Magpul’s M-LOK system (6 slots) and the receiver is topped with both upper (20 MOA cant) and lower picatinny rails, with the lower pic rail behind the M-LOK slots. The chassis has an easy-access ambidextrous magazine release for Tikka magazines. For user-interface, the stock uses AR grips (with one installed from ERGO) and a custom side-folding stock with length-of-pull and comb adjustments.

Street prices are around $2,000 with the first ones I found on TikkaPerformance.com

Tikka is poor quality to begin with, have a highly respected gun smith friend. He will not even work on them anymore. Junk he says. This is TSR is just an attempt at a copy of 3 or 5 other weapons that are on the market and better. Move along nothing to see here. Nick name around the range in town is Tikka is the want to be poor mans Browning.

This is a poorly disguised troll, but in the event that it isn't, tell your gunsmith friend he's a fricking idiot. Gunsmiths love working on them because their actions hardly require any truing. They regularly outshoot rifles that cost twice as much, especially Brownings, which don't even come with an accuracy guarantee. A prominent attorney in the Baton Rouge area won a 600yd match at Palo Alto with a stock Tikka with Nightforce glass, and he was going up against $5000 Surgeon and AI rigs

Please let us know who this "gunsmith" is. The OB is breathless.

It's probably a guy who put a barrel and B&C stock on his Savage action in his garage and calls himself a gunsmith

You're making a good choice. I've been in the industry for a while and will be getting one for myself as well. Just torn between 260 and 308, though I'm leaning 308 since I'm getting a Daniel Defense AR10 pretty soon. Going to put the CTR barreled action in a Manners stock and put the CDI bottom metal on it so that I can use AI mags.

You will not be disappointed.

Why wouldn't they have that in 6.5 creedmoor?

I think it's coming, baw, they just haven't released the SKU yet - I think the link covered that.

Damn, that's conceptually a really good out-of-the-box gun. I'd like to shoot it if someone else buys it
