As In poured Seafoam down the lifter bore? ?

pour a bottle in the oil.

I use 0w-20 oil and a bottle of seafoam. dont rev over 2500rpms with a whole bottle of sf in crankcase. run for 20-30 min at around 2000rpm.
Change oil with 5w-30
Never use lucas stabilizer in tha afm engine.

I would look for a lq4. The lq9 is the more sought after motor because people generally think they have more power and they do but very slightly and only because its a little different piston. Look for an lq4 out of a 3/4 ton truck an h2 or van that's wrecked. Take it out will be plug and play and then take it to a speed shop and have a custom tune put on it. Cam would also be a big help and would be easy to put in while you still had the motor on a stand.

Intake lifter on #7 is completely compressed. Took the rocker cover off and tbe rocker arm is free. Like 1/2" of free play. Ran two quarts of ATF and half a bottle kf Marvel through it today with no luck. Changed the oil and filter with 5w30 and Delco filter. Did not unlock that damn lifter at all.

Thats not good. spring inside lifter is broke.
Its not much more to buy a used non afm 5.3 and have ecu flashed than to replace lifters.

Did you see post above about our new toy.

Yes I did. I had one similar except I had a full aluminum 6 bolt splayed SVO block and twin 88's. Y'all gonna have some fun with that beast. Get the FAST fuel management system with wideband O2 sensors for tuning that bad boy.
BTW, Thkse AFM lifters have external springs that ride on top. The locking mechanism ks controlled by adding oil pressure via the Oil pressure manifold under the intake. Kinda weird that added oil pressure actually deactivates the lifters.

The external spring keeps it from majin noise while collapsed. theinternal spring is the one broke. i thought they cut off oil to collapse

We considered 88s or a single 101 but figured 66s would be easier to tune on street.

Just get a new truck

fricking Chevy stopped making the Avalanche. I'm partial to them, I got hit by an 18 wheeler and walked away.

IIRC, 4 Wheeler magazine or Peterson's 4 Wheel and Off-Road swapped an 8.1 into an Avalanche. It was one of their Ultimate Adventure vehicles a few years back
