New Tire Recs

2012 Chevy Silverado crew cab 2wd
Currently running the factory 275/55/20's with the front having been leveled, I was thinking of going with 285/55/20.
I shouldn't have any issue with this sizing right? Also thinking of going with the BF Goodrich AT KO2 as it seems like a great tire for the price. Not looking to spend a whole lot but open to other suggestions.
TIA

Will be limited in tire selections in that size. BFG is a good one though.
I'd lean to 275/60/20 since its a bigger tire than 285. Much greater selection in that range.

School me a little in the sizing please. When you say 275/60 is bigger, do you mean wider, taller, both?

mastercraft and coopers are great tires for great prices.

Don't feel like explaining the rest, but 275 and 285 is the width in millimeters
BFG ATs are good tires that will last a long time

gotya, so I'm guessing 60 would mean a taller tire as opposed to the 55? I must have had those two specs backwards

Had BFG A/T on my Tahoe - great tires, not too loud (until they got worn), and very durable. Lasted a long time.
Had BFG Mud Terrains on my Z71, and switched to BFG A/T and actually the A/T held up better. Have Nittos on my new Sierra, but will be getting BFGs once the Nittos are done.

The number comes out like this:
(width)/(aspect ratio)/(rim diameter)
So let's break down my factory spec size to get the entire wheel diameter:
275 (width) x 0.55 (aspect ratio) = 151.25
151.25 x 0.03937 (convert to inches) = 5.95 (from edge of rim to edge of tire)
5.95 x 2 (to get both portions of tire in diameter) = 11.9
11.9 + 20 (rim diameter) = 31.9 inch diameter
If you have a large width and a low aspect ratio, you will need to most likely worry about rubbing your sway bar at full lock. If you get a tire that has both a large aspect ratio and a large diameter, you will have to worry about rubbing everywhere.
Check on GM forums to see the max tire size with a level. I think you could fit 33s (285/60/20 = 33.5"). But you may want to double check.

That clears things up tremendously, thank you sir
Think I'm leaning with the 275/60/20 as stated earlier. I like the idea that it would ever so slightly make my truck look higher than it currently does and the price point I'm seeing is desirable as well

I don't understand why they ever started using that commie formula to measure tires.
What in the hell was wrong with walking into the tire shop and asking for 33x12.50x16's?

Thanks Obama
I only buy metric tires for my wife's van. Still rocking my 31x10.50R15 tires on the Jeep.

I have the Grabber at's...tread pattern like the bfg ko's. Not a bad tire so far. I'm going more aggressive next time. Something like the bfg ko2's, gy duratrac's or Mickey Thompson atz's. 33's fit most 2" level kits. F150's can fit 34's with 2.5" level as long as they're not too wide...probably less than 12". Also depends on factory wheels or aftermarket wheels and the amount of offset. Just have to talk to a knowledgable tire shop or do some research.

I've been rolling with Toyo AT's for some time and have 0 complaints. Picked up some bad arse Federal Cour 35's for $400 that I'll slap on for the winter
