I live on a golf course and a coyote has recently been showing near our back fence almost every night...dogs go crazy and it causes a lot of problems...coyote does not get scared off by the dogs...obviously it's hunting something in the area by the houses...
Shooting it is not an option...what can I do to get rid of this thing?

I figured this would come up and I thought about using a green belt, but that changes the narrative a lot because I am in a neighborhood...it is pretty mediocre actually...

Why is shooting it out of the question?

Cheap sponges soaked in old cooking grease

If no other animals will be able to access said sponges

Call the police and say there is a loose pitbull.

Seriously though 10" PVC pipe about 5ft long with and end cap on one end. Set it at an angle with chicken in the capped end. Yote goes in, and can't get back out.

if threr is no risk of harming a real dog:
hang snapper-size circle hooks from a stout tree limb about 3' off the ground baited with some meat. once the OUTLAW quadraped has been hooked a cb cap to the head will finish him off.
if harming a real dog is possible then shoot the SOB in the gut with a cb cap

I think everyone here has pretty much given you the right answer... The real risk is harming someone's pet or worse, kid. Traps and poison don't discriminate, and unless you're licensed and have alerted the authorities you expose yourself to tons of liability.

Good luck.

I would say contact the local wildlife and fisheries agency....they usually have trappers available for such situations...

We have a pack of them around my house too. We contacted the parish and they directed us to ldwf and lpso and they both directed us to shoot them if we felt they were a danger to pets or children.

Can't shoot them because it is a neighborhood and there or houses in surrounding the area, (and this isn't louisiana)
Good call on contacting the authorities...I'll see if the county can help...

I really appreciate the tone of this board...I am so use to the Rant where I would have gotten one serious response and thirty horrible jokes about me trying to brag because I live on a golf course...
Thanks for the help...

A suppressed .22 is the absolute best answer. If you can get this yote within 75 yds either pop him between the eyes if a night shot or behind shoulder on low light broadside shot.

Of course this is a choice ONLY if you are capable and confident of your shooting ability.
And no house directly behind said target.

I had a buddy shooting night vision suppressed ar 15 with light rounds. It sounded how silenced rounds do in the movie.

Get a piece of memory foam mattress, cut it into 1" chunks with an electric filet knife, put it in a bucket and cover it with bacon grease or pig blood. Put it out at night near where you see, hear the coyotes. They will eat it and die from a stomach obstruction.
