Need some ideas for legs on this table(update)

So I built my 20mo an activity table out of some old shiplap I had laying around. I am not in love with the legs(scrap 2x4's). Great OB, give me some ideas. Table top to deck is 24". I will be staining the top a tad darker and painting runners and legs primer white.
Cheers
Edit with update!!
Glued 2 2x4 together and planed down to 2.5" squared. Much better look, I feel. Thanks everyone for the tips!!

Use 4x4s and taper them as they go down. Leaving one straight corner. My simple solution, but I’m not quite as handy or creative as some others.

What is wrong with just 4" x 4"'s for legs?

Go to Home Depot and get stair balusters

A 4x4 eats into my width too much.

What do you have in the way of tools/saws?
If you have a kreg jig I’d start by putting the apron flush with the legs.
I’d get hard wood 3x3s from Lowe’s or HD and tapper them down from 3x3 at the top to 2x2 at the bottom.

You could dress them up to look like crayons, or for much less work carpentry pencils.

I hear ya. My kids stand on everything. Actually, they pretty much destroy everything somehow. Not maliciously.
I just don't see balusters/spindles giving enough support.

In that case, the position of the 2x4 legs in your pic is not a very stable solution. That table will tip very easily.

If you really want it to look good, make the apron flush with the legs. Or even make the legs proud of the apron by about a quarter inch.

First off to stable what you have, cross members leg to leg and then a board down the center.
If you don't want to remove what you have, split a 2x4 and join it to each leg on the inside making it look as a "L" from the outside.

How about something like this?

I've always liked the wood in metal, just not for this project.

This is actually a damn good idea...I would get some untreated round fence posts and dress them up like crayons!
