Headed down tomorrow to fish out of a place about an hour south of New Orleans. Reds and Specks mostly. Guided trip. What are some things that I must bring other than the obvious being beer. Rods and tackle will be provided.

Thanks!!

I've got two fish whistles.... Long range and short range. Red/Black Goshallow and Blue/White Godeep.

Rain jacket, just in case.

Don't forget your shades, I will sometimes forget to grab them when heading out before daylight.

It's a silly superstition that they are bad luck on a boat. I think it originated because they spoil quickly and the gas they give off when they turn can cause others foods/ fruits/ vegetables to spoil too. That and I've heard that boxes of bananas were known to have poisonous spiders or some such. Could be wrong though...

I find that at certain times in the marsh they eat up a DOA shrimp. I like the gold glitter and I spray it with Jacks Juice shrimp spray.
Also mini King spinner bait if there is open water and junebug finesse worms, also small chartruese swimming minnows.
That's all I got.

But that's in Sabine.

Capt. Ryan runs a top notch outfit. You should have an awesome trip. All the basics of what to bring have pretty much been covered. I think they may provide poboys for lunch, but that might just be if you're staying at the lodge. Need to stay hydrated with some non-beer in addition to the beers and cash to tip your guide.
