My FIL (Mobile, AL) would likely be interested. He is a collector of vintage arms.

If that's too far, probably get an appraisal from the place on Royal Street in the French Quarter or at Collector's Firearms in Houston.

I don't think they made original 1873's in 44 magnum. My guess would be .44 WCF (also called .44-40).

It's is all original and upon further inspection it says 44 caliber WCF.

I agree. I think the 44 magnum is a fairly modern round. Elmer Keith in the 1950's maybe?
