specklebelly hunting club or Goose Guides Inc

GGI specializes in rag spread hunts.

Id really like to do guided trips for people. But now that I'm working full time I won't be able to hunt near as much like I have in recent years frickin adulthood

ETA: actually GGI sounds like your kind of place. They can accommodate huge groups of people. Kill a good amount of specs.

Had a horrible experience there a few years ago. Had some big customers and when I booked, I told the girl I wanted rooms where they didn't sleep in bunk beds. Got there and they had all 4 of us in one little room with bunk beds. (I wouldn't have minded it, but didnt want my customers sleeping in bunk beds.) Long story short, had 2 horrible speck hunts, Doug lied over and over, and they eat like at nursing home times--dinner at 6. Soon as we got in from our 0 afternoon speck hunt, they said it was time for dinner. I wanted to have a little cocktail time with customers, but he said they would put the food up at 7:30. I understand about hunting situations, but we had a guide show up late, shitty looking decoys, 1 guide couldn't find the blind and that took forever, afternoon place we hunted was a dry rice field with stubble still in it. 2 hunts with 0 geese. Plus, I've met too many people over the years that Doug has screwed over to the hilt.

If you're not opposed to travel look into going to Arkansas and find a reputable outfitter there. Limit is 3 and a lot more geese winter up there than South Louisiana these days. Several people on here can probably add to this.

I would tell Doug about your experience and request that you hunt with rick.

See if he can't make it up to you.

I don't think 7:30 is too late for supper. Also don't think it's the type of place to get rowdy, not that it's what you're trying to do just in my experience, it's more family friendly.

I did tell Doug and he made up a bunch of excuses and lies. I wasn't real clear about the supper. They served at 6 and he said everything would be put up before 7:30. No, we weren't trying to get rowdy, just want to unwind and not having to eat at 6

Grown arse men should be able to get drunk at the camp, especially if you are paying to stay in someone else's.

Eric Rue used to put on a great spec hunt, however the last few times I have been with him the birds wee few and far between....maybe things have gotten better?

Kind of hit or miss in SW LA to just take Specks specifically unless you are sitting on a hot field with some Snows also working it. Honestly, I would come to Winnie, TX and hunt with Drake Plantation if you were just after Specks.

What kinda prices are we talking about with them? I'd also love to get on a good speck hunt this year if possible.
