Falcon coastal xg rod.

New chronarch or any of the ~$150-175 garcias, Lews, or pfluegers.

Shimano Curado 200I and Shimano Crucial MH 7 ft rod. Super lightweight, feels good in hands all day long. I have some Curados on Castaway Skeletons that are awesome too.

Why not just get your calcutta serviced. I have some much older than 7 years that are like new after a service.

I don't care if your $400 rod and $200 reel have lifetime warranty and were designed at NASA. you are only wasting money purely to stroke your ego buying equipt with prices like that.

I use a $30 diawa spinning reel and a $40 tournament angler rod that puts endless limits of trout and it can easily handle a 27" redfish as well.

the complete setup plus the line of your choice and you only spent $75 and it lasts me 10 frickin years doing just that before I replace them.

I don't wash them or clean them or even try to take care of them so they get pretty well abused, and even then, they still work fine after 10 years of use when I give them away to kids I see fishing

I have a lews bb1 and a tournament lite, have years of experience with ambassadors 5500/5600 and have used my grandpaws old calcutta 250 from time to time.

My favorite reel though, is my curado 200i. Just love the solid feel and the way it fits in my hand. I know some people can't get over their love affair with the 200e, but I think the 200i is pretty sweet and got the curado name back good after the g series

So anything over $75 is stroking ones ego? Yeah right.

I've used cheap spinning reels before. There's no way you're getting 10 years out of one with "endless limits" of trout.

Also, this thread is about baitcast combos. I'm not sure why you're beating your chest about a shitty spinning combo anyway.

To each his own on that thought process. Everyone fishes inshore different. Many use only live bait or dead shrimp. Someone like myself likes to use artificial and a number of different lures ranging in all sizes. The better set ups are more equipped to handle the load, as well as much lighter to not leave me tired as hell from casting all day. And in my experience, more comfortable to fish with in my hands. To each his own, but I would say you don't know what you're talking about in regards to why spend more money on a rod/reel.

I've switched my full arsenal from Shimano to 13 Concepts and have never looked back. Great reels.

The 13's are awesome, but I wouldn't insult them by putting them on a Duckett. Go with a Falcon!

Thanks for all the input. I'm going to get my Calcutta repaired, but I couldn't help but buy the 13 Concept C and a 6'9" Castaway medium action.

You'll be glad you didn't get a duckett rod.

Castaway/Calcutta is legit.
